ACE at Career Fair 2019 Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP)

On October 17 a team of ACE Eindhoven will participate in the Career Fair from the FEUP, University of Porto's Faculty of Engineering. We asked ACE Account Manager Tim Veltman to tell us more about the fair and his expectations.

Can you tell us something about the FEUP and their Career Fair?

Tim: "The Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP) is one of the best Universities of Portugal where some of our ACE engineers have studied. Every year FEUP organises a Career Fair where a number of selected companies have the possibility to present themselves to the students and young professionals. This year's Career Fair will be held from October 14 till 17 and ACE will be present on October 17 at booth 28."

How did you get in touch with FEUP?

Tim: "Several times per year ACE management organises an introduction day for ACE employees who joined us recently. Both in Dutch as in English. After the English presentation our Mechanical Engineer Andre Martinho informed us that at his former University in Porto they have a Career Fair and that this could be of interest to ACE. That was the first step and by now our team has planned two full days in Porto meeting with qualified young professionals."

What is the ACE goal at the Career Fair 2019 at the University of Porto?

Tim: "Besides the technical knowledge that ACE is looking for and the explanation on the projects that we are working on, we want to explain students how our on-boarding process works that facilitates foreign students to move to Eindhoven. Because of our good experiences with other engineers that have studied at FEUP, we are able to provide a clear image of ACE in order to convince Portugese students to consider working for us. We hope to speak with a lot of enthousiastic engineers and to convince them to move to the technological heart of Europe, Eindhoven."

Are Portugese students interested in working abroad?

Tim: "We see an increase in number of South-European engineers that apply for a job abroad. Not just because of the difference in salary here, but mainly because of the development of High-Tech systems here in Eindhoven. At this moment we have three Portugese engineers working at ACE and in the past we had more engineers with a Portugese background. Apart from the weather we get positive feedback about The Netherlands, ACE as a company, the culture and the quality of life!"

Which students would you like to meet in Porto at the Career Fair?

Tim: "We would like to meet with all students that thrive in a project environment with different projects and in different business units. ACE's core competence is mechanical co-development for a variety of companies in the region. All students that enjoy CAD designing, have a heart for following things up, get energy from starting/coaching/developing projects we would like to meet! We feel we have a lot to offer to students with a variety of backgrounds, always focussing on mechanical development."
