Career Story Marco Vitali
Marco Vitali is based in Hasselt and has been part of ACE Belgium for almost eight years. As an Account Manager and Recruiter, he combines customer facing responsibilities with supporting engineers throughout their careers. His role revolves around connecting the right people to the right opportunities. From recruiting engineers and building customer relationships to following up on projects and career development, Marco works closely with both clients and consultants on a daily basis.
What drives him most is seeing engineers grow and helping them find projects that match their ambitions, interests and strengths.
How his journey at ACE began
Marco joined ACE on 9 August 2018 after being contacted by Freddy Willems. After several conversations and assessments, the opportunity felt like a natural step. What attracted him most was the combination of responsibility, variety and daily interaction with people. From the beginning, the role offered a broad mix of activities and close contact with both clients and engineers, something that immediately appealed to him.
LEARNING THE LANGUAGE OF ENGINEERING
Coming from a non-technical background, stepping into the engineering world meant learning an entirely new vocabulary. Much of that learning happened through conversations with colleagues. Engineers took the time to explain their work, share their expertise and provide context around technical concepts. Through interviews, project discussions and day-to-day interactions, Marco gradually built a strong understanding of the industries and technologies ACE operates in. He still remembers moments when colleagues would sit down with him to explain engineering principles in detail. Those experiences not only helped him understand the technical side of the business, but also strengthened the collaboration between teams.
Several colleagues played an important role in that journey. Freddy Willems, in particular, had a significant impact on Marco's professional development. Together with his managers and teammates, they created an environment where asking questions, sharing knowledge and learning from one another came naturally.
SUPPORTING ENGINEERS EVERY DAY
Today, Marco particularly enjoys the people aspect of his role. While every client and project is different, what motivates him most is working closely with engineers and helping them progress in their careers. Whether it is identifying a new opportunity, discussing career goals or finding the right match between consultant and customer, he values being involved throughout the process and seeing the results of those efforts over time.
WHY ACE FELT LIKE THE RIGHT CHOICE
One of the things that stood out to Marco from the start was the atmosphere within ACE. The conversations he had during the recruitment process felt open, straightforward and genuine. Combined with the variety of the role and the opportunity to work with both engineers and customers, it quickly became clear that ACE was the right fit for him. Nearly eight years later, those first impressions remain largely unchanged.
WHAT HE VALUES MOST TODAY
For Marco, the people remain one of the strongest aspects of working at ACE. He values the relationships he has built with colleagues throughout the years, as well as the trust and freedom he is given in his role. Being able to work closely with engineers, customers and internal teams creates a dynamic environment where no two days are exactly the same. That combination continues to make his work both challenging and rewarding.
Outside the office
Outside work, Marco enjoys spending time with family and friends, often over good food and drinks. After playing football for many years, he discovered a passion for tennis around three years ago. He also regularly plays snooker, a hobby he has enjoyed for more than sixteen years. These activities help him unwind while still providing the challenge and focus he enjoys in his professional life.
