Career Story Giorgio Arcuri

For Giorgio Arcuri, engineering started long before university. Growing up in Sicily, he was the curious child who was always helping his father repair cars, tractors and household equipment. What fascinated him was not only how things worked, but how problems could be solved. He admired his father's practical mindset and ability to create smart solutions, and combined with a natural affinity for mathematics and physics, that curiosity gradually evolved into a passion for engineering.

After finishing high school, Giorgio moved to Turin to study Mechanical Engineering. What began as a university adventure quickly became a defining chapter of his life. He spent more than ten years in the city, developing both personally and professionally before eventually taking on a new challenge in the Netherlands. Today, that same curiosity and problem-solving mindset continue to drive his work as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.

In February 2023, Giorgio decided to take a major step in his career by relocating to Eindhoven and joining ACE. Starting through a recruitment agency, he quickly found an environment that felt like home. Surrounded by ambitious engineers from different countries, many of whom were also beginning a new chapter abroad, he appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community.

His previous experience in Italy gave him a solid foundation in mechanical design, allowing him to contribute immediately within his first ASML project. As he demonstrated his technical expertise and willingness to take ownership, his responsibilities grew rapidly and he progressed from a Medior to a Senior role.

For Giorgio, that progression was never just about technical skills. It was driven by a constant desire to learn, improve and challenge himself. By actively seeking new responsibilities and opportunities for growth, he was able to build trust with project leads, colleagues and clients alike.

One of the biggest milestones in Giorgio's development came through his work on ASML projects. Working in a highly structured and technically demanding environment exposed him to complex stakeholder management, rigorous design processes and a high standard of engineering excellence. While the scale and complexity of the organisation initially presented a challenge, it also accelerated his professional growth.

Within a relatively short period, he became increasingly confident navigating multidisciplinary teams, presenting ideas to larger audiences and defending engineering decisions during design reviews.

Today, Giorgio enjoys engineering challenges that require deep analysis and creative problem-solving. For him, good engineering is not only about finding a working solution. It is about finding the most efficient solution while balancing technical requirements, practical constraints and project objectives.

Outside the office, Giorgio is rarely standing still. An enthusiastic sports lover since childhood, he has always enjoyed pushing himself physically, whether through football, swimming or, more recently, CrossFit. What attracts him to CrossFit is the constant opportunity to improve, setting new goals and achieving better results one training session at a time.

Fortunately, he has found the perfect way to balance all those calories burned during training: cooking. Cooking is one of his greatest passions and something he describes as a genuine expression of care for others. Whether preparing meals for friends or family, he sees food as a way of bringing people together and showing appreciation.

Alongside sport and cooking, Giorgio also enjoys photography and travelling, two passions that allow him to discover new cultures, perspectives and experiences.
