Career Story Lianne de Greef

When Lianne de Greef joined ACE in December 1998 through a temporary employment agency, she never expected it would become a career spanning more than 25 years. Coming from the travel industry, where she spent four years helping customers book holidays to Spain, an engineering company initially seemed like an unlikely next step. However, it did not take long for her to discover the people, variety and dynamics behind the technical environment. After only a few months, she was offered a permanent contract, marking the beginning of a long-term journey within ACE.

The beginning

For many years, Lianne worked as a Management Assistant, supporting both management and the board. Her days were rarely the same. One moment she was organising a large company event, such as ACE's 45th anniversary celebration, and the next she was handling practical matters such as travel expenses or salary-related administration.

That variety, combined with close collaboration across the organisation, kept the role interesting for many years and gave her a unique perspective on how ACE evolved over time.

change of direction

After more than two decades in management support, Lianne chose to step outside her comfort zone and take on a completely new challenge within ACE. Three years ago, she moved to the marketing department, entering a field that was entirely new to her. Concepts such as SEO and SEA were unfamiliar at first, but she embraced the opportunity to learn and develop new skills.

Today, she contributes to a wide range of marketing activities, including events, trade fairs, campaigns, social media and internal communication initiatives. The variety that originally attracted her to ACE remains one of the aspects she enjoys most.

Growing together

The marketing team has grown significantly over the past few years, bringing new energy and new opportunities for collaboration. Projects are developed together, ideas are shared and refined, and different perspectives come together to support ACE's visibility and growth. This collaborative environment is one of the aspects Lianne values most in her current role.

Beyond her role

Alongside her work in marketing, Lianne also serves as a Confidential Advisor, supporting colleagues when needed and helping to foster a positive working environment. In addition, she has been part of ACE's emergency response team (BHV) for more than 20 years, demonstrating her long-term commitment to the organisation and its people. Having spent more than half of her life at ACE, she has witnessed the company's growth firsthand. The addition of sister company NiniX and the expansion into Poland and Portugal have brought new perspectives, cultures and ways of working, making the organisation increasingly international.

Outside the office

 

 

Outside of work, Lianne enjoys spending time with family and friends, discovering new restaurants, reading comic books, especially Asterix & Obelix, and shopping for new clothes. She also enjoys long walks with her 12-year-old Labradoodle, Doezel, stays active through Pilates and Zumba, and looks forward to her annual skiing holiday every year.

 

After more than two decades at ACE, Lianne still feels connected to the company and the people around her.

 

What I’ve always appreciated is that I never felt stuck here. I’ve had the chance to keep learning, try something new, and grow within ACE, and that’s what made me stay.
